Welcome to Monday or as I like to call it, Music Monday.
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. If you enjoy settling in after a long day of work and listening to some new tunes, I’ve got a treat for you! As you may or may not know, I love introducing women who are doing really great things in the music industry and tonight, I am happy to introduce you to LadyChild.
The lead singer of LadyChild, Genevieve Faivre, is a New York based musician who is influenced by Radiohead and Bjork. She studied classical voice and philosophy in college before deciding to front a band, which was inspired by a Grace Potter and the Nocturnals ‘ performance. Now, besides being a freelance singer, she writes and records for LadyChild as well as being a badass front-woman.
If you enjoy Fiona Apple or Kate Bush you’re going to LOVE LadyChild who have a pop and soul sound.
Below is their brand new and first ever EP released on March 9th.
“Out of Breath” is LadyChild’s debut single and music video. According to lead singer Genevieve Faivre, it’s a song about feeling defeated and the struggle of getting your foot in the door. I think a lot of us can relate to this feeling of overwhelmingness in our careers and I love the universal message. The indie-rock/grunge feel makes it a song that’s just so fun to rock out to too, despite the lyrics signifying hardships so honestly… it’s a song for every mood.

LadyChild will be playing a show at The Bitter End in New York, New York on April 5th. If you’re in the area and interested in checking out the show, you can purchase tickets for $5 at the door.
